Team Fraenck: Mohammad
Fraenck wouldn't be Fraenck if we didn't show exactly how we work and who makes our products. During Fashion Revolution Week, two hashtags have been created to do just that: #WhoMadeMyClothes and #IMadeYourClothes. With the hashtag #IMadeYourClothes we introduce you to one of our employees and give you a peek into the proverbial kitchen of Fraenck. Fraenck supports the initiative of the Fashion Revolution Week and contributes to the change and more transparency in the fashion world.
#WhoMadeYourClothes? Meet Mohammad!Mohammad, 26 and born and raised in Syria. Over three years ago he came to the Netherlands from Syria and eventually ended up in Arnhem. He started as an intern at Fraenck, but has now landed a six-month contract and he is quite proud of that.
"Before I came to the Netherlands, I lived and worked in Syria. At Fraenck I mainly keep myself busy with making bags, but in Syria I was a dressmaker. I made clothes for men, women and children." He was only 16 (!) years old when he started his 'career'. "I was still actually a little kid. At 16 I rolled into the profession and started making clothes. So in that time I gained a lot of experience." After he had found his place a bit in the Netherlands, he was offered an internship at Fraenck, through Activerend Werk in Arnhem. An opportunity he seized with both hands. "In Syria I only made clothes, at Fraenck I make bags. I think that's great. It's something new, it's so different from what I used to do. I learned a lot during the past period. I make the bag all by myself. Not just a part, but really the whole bag."
He is in ones element at Fraenck. "I am really enjoying myself. First of all because I work with great people and secondly because I really like the bags. The material is very durable and the design looks very neat. I now have a six-month contract, of which three months have already passed, but I hope I can stay, because I would like to make even more bags."
