First of all: Team Fraenck wishes you all the best in these times!
We manufacture different sizes and types of masks, which you'll find here.
At the moment, there are different types of Fraenck face masks in circulation. Please read the description carefully to find out which version you own!
- Face mask Loose Elastics (this page). Face mask with removable elastic (4 hooks), which you wear around your head.
- Face mask Elasticated. Face mask with fixed elastic and 1 hook, to be worn around the head.
- Face mask Elastic Ears. Face mask with thin round elastic, to be worn around the ears.
- Dust mask Basic. Face mask with fixed straps (no elastic), to be knotted around your head. Without stainless steel nose strip.
New facemask (with 2 loose elastics)
We wrote this manual with care, please red carefully!
The facemask will be delivered in a sealed plastic pouch. You must first was the facemark before using it.
- The facemask can be washed at 60 degrees.
- Wash the facemask together with the elastic bands in a washing bag (e.g. pillowcase with zip).
- Leave the facemask and elastics to dry in a clean place. Do not use them again until they are dry.
- Preferably, wash the facemask every day. The more intensively it is used, the more often it should be washed.
- The stainless steel strip inside can be removed, but is not necessary. It does not hurt to clean it once in a while with soap or disinfectant.
Putting on the mask
In the following steps, only touch the elastic, the hooks and the edges of the mask!
Wash your hands before putting on the mask, or wear new protective gloves.
Long elastic goes on top (around the head), short elastic goes on bottom (around the neck):

We make our mouth caps in different types and sizes, you can find them here.

We have written this manual with the utmost care, please read it carefully!
The mouthguard comes in a sealed plastic bag. You must wash this mouthguard before first use:
Washing the mouthguard
The mask can be washed at 60 degrees.
Wash the mask together with the elastic bands in a washing bag (e.g. pillowcase with zip).
Let the hood and elastics dry in a clean place. Do not use them again until they are dry.
Preferably wash the cap every day. The more intensively it is used, the more often it should be washed.
The stainless steel strip inside can be removed, but not necessarily. It does not hurt to clean it once in a while with soap or disinfectant.
Putting on the mask
During the following steps, only touch the elastic, the hooks and the edges of the mask!
Wash your hands before putting on the mask, or wear new protective gloves.
Long elastic goes on top (around the head), short elastic goes on bottom (around the neck):
1. Below in the pictures you can see how the strip should be bent approximately. Shape it a little before you put on the mouth cap. Please note: the strip is quite sturdy, so take your time for this!
2. Attach the longer elastic to the upper loops of the mask with the hooks pointing downwards.
3. Attach the shorter elastic on 1 side of the mask, hook facing downwards.
4. Grasp the side of the facemark by the loop and with your other hand, the hook by the elastic.
5. Place the mask under your chin, on your chest, wrap the elastic around your neck and attach the hook to the loop. Pull firmly on the elastic so that you can see what you are doing.
6. Grasp the top elastic band with both hands and put it around your head.
7. Grab the metal strip with both hands (only at the top) and shape it around your nose.
8. Put the mask in place only by holding the ends of the mask (the edges). Make sure it covers your nose, mouth and chin well. Bend the stainless steel strip slightly so it follows the shape of your nose and cheekbones. You already pre-shaped it in step 1, so this should be fairly easy.
Watch below, how to put it on.
Removing the mask
In the following steps, only touch the elastic, the hooks and the edges of the mask!
It is best to wear protective gloves when removing the mask, especially during intensive use.
- Grasp the upper elastic with both hands and move it forward.
- Take one of the hooks from the lower elastic and unhook it. Put the mask in a closed (plastic) bag, touching the mask as little as possible.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Wash the mask according to section B and follow all steps up to here.
Use of the mask:
- Only touch the mask by the elastic bands and hooks.
- Wash the mask immediately or store it carefully (shielded), do not leave it anywhere.
- Use the mask as if it were a disposable mask (minus the disposal). Only wash the mask straight away - or store it securely (in a closed plastic bag), instead of disposing of it.
- Do not use the mask for more than 4 hours at a time, or until the mask becomes damp or dirty. Then store it safely or wash it immediately.
- In case of intensive (contact) use, the mask should be replaced more often for a clean one.
Tips for (extra) protection
- Make sure your mask fits snug around your face. If the elastic is too loose, try tying a knot on the end of the elastic to tighten the band.
- Make sure that the stainless steel strip is well bent around your nose. It is in place if you notice that the mask is 'sucked in' when you inhale.
- You can put an extra filter between the two dust layers. The pattern for this can be found here. This can be kitchen paper (1), or a HEPA filter in the form of a piece of hoover bag* (2). This filter should be changed every 4 hours after use, or more often - depending on the intensity of use.
* Further research has shown that HEPA filters should not be used. See the blog we wrote about it.
- Wash your hands regularly (and thoroughly!)
- Do not touch your face, including the mouth mask (as little as possible)
- Keep as much distance as possible from other people (1.5 metres), even with the mask!
- Avoid large groups of people as much as possible, also when wearing a mask!
- Keep a close eye on the RIVM website for the latest measures.
Maintenance during/after use
Like any product that is used intensively, this mouth mask will show wear over time. It is possible that the elastic becomes looser after 100 uses. This can easily be solved by tying a knot at the end of the elastic. It is also possible to order new elastic bands from us.
We recommend, in case of daily intensive use, to also take 2 or more caps, to be sure that you always have a dry cap (after washing) and a backup.
If you have any questions and/or remarks, please let us know! Keep an eye on this page for updates.
Ask your supervisor if this mask may be used! They are not FFP (1-3) certified. We have developed them due to the large shortage of these masks. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that this mask offers sufficient protection, but we have thoroughly researched which types of mask designs work and which materials may offer protection. In Asia and also in the Czech Republic, good results are achieved with reusable masks; here in the Netherlands they are (unfortunately) not yet very common.
We make our facemasks in different types and sizes, you can find them here.
